Each year, up to four Breakthrough Prizes in Life Sciences are awarded. One prize per year is for work contributing to the understanding of Parkinson’s Disease & Neurodegenerative Disorders. All prizes are individual and should recognize a single person’s contribution to the field of life sciences, with special attention to recent developments. Each laureate receives $3 million.
The Breakthrough Prizes in Life Sciences are funded by grants from the Sergey Brin Family Foundation, the Ma Huateng Foundation, the Milner Global Foundation, the Anne Wojcicki Foundation, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiatives Fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
The Breakthrough Prizes were founded by Sergey Brin, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, Yuri and Julia Milner, and Anne Wojcicki.
