I feel fortunate to learn and explore mathematics over the years together with many excellent friends, colleagues and students. I am particularly grateful to my mentors Xiuxiong Chen and Simon Donaldson for education and inspiration, and for promoting originality in mathematical research. I am also indebted to all of my teachers since elementary school, for shaping my aspiration and drawing my interest into mathematics. It is a true privilege in life to be able to make a career following one’s own interest, and I want to thank my parents, and my wife and daughter, for their unconditional support and love which makes this possible.
